SA: Killer cross-examined at bodies-in-the-barrels trial
A convicted killer has told South Australia's bodies-in-the-barrels murder trial oftaking his step-brother to the Snowtown bank and promising him he'd be okay -- but knowinghe'd be murdered.
Prosecution witness JAMES VLASSAKIS, under cross-examination, has told the SupremeCourt in Adelaide how his step-brother, DAVID JOHNSON, asked him if he would be allowedto go home.
VLASSAKIS says he told Mr JOHNSON he'd be able to leave.
VLASSAKIS is serving life imprisonment for his part in the murders.
He says one of the accused, 36-year-old JOHN JUSTIN BUNTING, had spoken of fillingbarrels with concrete and dropping them in the sea.
The trial relates to the discovery of eight bodies in six plastic barrels in a disusedbank vault at Snowtown, north of Adelaide, in 1999, two more found buried in an Adelaidebackyard and two found in other places.
The trial is continuing.
BUNTING has pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of murder and 31-year-old ROBERT JOE WAGNERhas pleaded not guilty to eight counts of murder and one of assisting an offender.
WAGNER has previously pleaded guilty to three counts of murder.
