FED: Abbott defends Costello after Hewson attack

CANBERRA, Feb 23 AAP - John Hewson's extraordinary attack on Peter Costello was "quite
unfair", opposition frontbencher Tony Abbott says.

In a Sunday newspaper column Dr Hewson - a former federal Liberal leader - said Mr
Costello "didn't have the balls to seize the moment" when he had the opportunity to lead
the party and was unlikely to ever be leader.
