Lake Forest Hospital program provides low-cost, nutritional meals to adults ages 55 and older on a daily basis from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria, 660 N. Westmoreland Road. Major programs funded by the federal Older Americans Act include Supportive Services, which enables communities to provide rides to medical appointments and grocery and drug stores. The National Family Caregiver Support Program offers services to people who provide primary care to spouses, parents, older relatives and friends. Legal representation is offered to seniors who have problems with Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and veterans benefits, as well as help to seniors who are financially or physically abused by family members. Three publications are available to aid senior citizens in understanding a number of medical assistance programs available to them.
